Somewhere along the way, vacations became exhausting too.
Flights. Crowds. Packed itineraries. Constant notifications. Restaurants that require reservations weeks in advance. Rushing from one activity to the next trying to “make the most” of the trip.
Many couples return home needing another vacation after their vacation. That’s part of why more people are beginning to crave something different.
Not necessarily more luxury. Not more entertainment. Not more stimulation.
Just rest. Real rest.
The kind that comes from slowing down long enough to hear the birds again. Drinking coffee slowly while looking out at the trees. Sitting by a fire without needing to check your phone every few minutes. Stargazing from a hot tub under the pines. Falling asleep in silence instead of traffic and notifications.
Over the last few years, we’ve watched more couples intentionally trade busy vacations for quiet nature getaways closer to home — places that help them reconnect with each other, themselves, and the outdoors.
That’s exactly why we created Sweetbriar Ridge.
Located just over an hour north of Minneapolis in Pine City, Minnesota, Sweetbriar Ridge is a luxury nature micro-resort designed to help people slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect through nature
We live in a world where most people are constantly overstimulated.
Phones. Emails. Social media. Noise. Schedules. Endless scrolling. Work stress. Parenting stress. Political stress. Decision fatigue.
Even rest has become performative.
Many couples aren’t looking for another packed itinerary anymore. They’re looking for a place where they can finally exhale. A place where mornings feel slower. Where conversations last longer. Where there’s nowhere they need to be.
Nature has a way of gently pulling people back into the present moment.
We see it happen all the time at Sweetbriar Ridge.
Guests arrive carrying tension they didn’t even realize they were holding. Then slowly, over a few days, something changes.
They sleep deeper. Laugh more. Stay off their phones longer. Reconnect around a fire. Wake up with the sunrise instead of an alarm clock.
There’s a reason researchers often talk about the “3-day effect” — the idea that spending extended time in nature can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and improve mental clarity.
We’ve seen that transformation firsthand.
There’s something grounding about stepping into the woods and realizing how quiet life can actually be.
At Sweetbriar Ridge, guests spend their evenings soaking in wood-burning hot tubs beneath the stars, listening to the wind move through the trees and watching deer wander across the prairie.

They wake up slowly in warm dome beds as sunlight pours through the windows.
Some spend the weekend hiking local trails or exploring nearby Minnesota state parks. Others never leave the property at all.
And honestly? That’s usually the point.
People are tired. Not just physically tired. Emotionally tired. Many couples simply want uninterrupted time together without the pressure of “doing enough.”
Sometimes the most meaningful weekends are the simplest ones: morning coffee in robes, reading by the fire, making dinner together, stargazing from bed, and ending the night in complete silence beneath the pines.
One of the biggest shifts we’ve noticed is that many people no longer want stressful travel experiences.
They want something easier.
Something meaningful that still feels like an escape without: airports, long travel days, expensive flights, or complicated planning.
Sweetbriar Ridge was intentionally created to feel far away without actually being far away.
Located about 70 miles north of Minneapolis–Saint Paul, guests often tell us they’re shocked by how quickly the city noise disappears once they arrive.
The drive slows down. The trees get taller. The pace changes.

By the time guests turn down the gravel road and see the domes tucked into nature, many say they already feel calmer.
We are fortunate to have so many wonderful cabins, hotels, and glamping destinations to choose from in Minnesota. But, Sweetbriar Ridge was designed to feel different from the beginning.
Not crowded. Not rushed. Not overly commercialized.
Each private geodesic dome was thoughtfully designed to combine the comforts of a boutique hotel with the peacefulness of being immersed in nature.
Guests experience: private luxury domes, heated floors, cozy king beds, large stargazing windows, wood-burning hot tubs, private trails, modern bathrooms, and 56 acres of woods and prairie to explore.

Many guests describe it as feeling like a luxury hotel placed quietly into the middle of nature.
Others simply say: “I finally felt like I could breathe here.”
Over the years, we’ve noticed certain types of guests are especially drawn to Sweetbriar Ridge.

And honestly, many guests arrive not fully realizing how badly they needed the pause.
Maybe the best trips aren’t the busiest ones anymore.
Maybe they look like: slower mornings, coffee without rushing, nights beneath the stars, meaningful converstaions, and finally having space to breathe again.
That’s the kind of experience we hope to create at Sweetbriar Ridge.
A place where people can reconnecct with nature, with loved ones, and with themselves.
if you’ve been craving a quieter kind of getaway, we’d love to welcome you.
